The original film was released in 2002. The sequel "Ice Age: The Meltdown" was released in 2006, while the prequel "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" releases this year. The original film brought in $176 million worldwide, while the sequel grossed $383 million. Personally, this reviewer is most excited about the third in the franchise. That's right! A prequel to the original, "Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" brings back all your favorite characters from Scrat, Manny, Sid and Diego. This time around they are joined by new characters Ellie (Queen Latifah) and loveable Buck (Seann William Scott). This time when Manny gets lost, he travels back to the days of when dinosaurs ruled the earth! Manny meets his grandmother when he is a kid and he also meets Buck. The two team up with Ellie and fight off dinosaurs and compete with a German Weasel named Ozzy (Steve Zahn). The new film takes place five million years before the first film. While Scrat is still lost on his journey back to the present, Manny, Ellie, Buck and their new friend Ozzy are on their way to the future. On their way they are joined by another of Sid's friends named Zurg (voiced by David Cross). Zurg joins them because he wants to find his princess too. All of this leads Manny into a conspiracy involving dinosaurs and humans. When Manny's adventure ends up getting him captured, he must befriend baby Apatosaurus named Diego (Nicholas Cage) who helps him escape from prehistoric jail. Manny, Ellie, Buck and Zurg jump back in time to the age of dinosaurs where they must once again save the world. While they try to stop a mad scientist's plot that will destroy all of mankind, they are faced with more prehistoric beasts, including the one-eyed tyrant Tyrannosaurus Rex voiced by Ray Romano. With new characters for you to enjoy and old favorites for you to love, "Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" is sure to make your friends jealous. * "Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" was filmed very quickly.
